England ARE Good
Alex, Leeds - nobody is pretending England are any good. We are good. Generally we sail through qualifying because we're better than most of the teams we're up against. Then a mixture of dreadful psychology and a sharp rise in opposition quality means we look pretty rubbish in most tournaments we get to.
This doesn't mean we're awful. But I've yet to see a single England fan saying we're on a par with Spain or whatever. If your definition of 'good' is 'the best' or 'going to win the Euros' then yes, we're not good. But if you line all the international teams up in order from best to worst, which end would you say we'd be nearer to?
And we all know how next summer will go: we'll ignore the press b******t for as long as possible, then finally give in to the hype about five minutes before kick off in the quarter finals...before recycling the usual dreary emails about Invest In Grass Roots Now!, Sack Greg Dyke Now!, Winter Break Now!, Premier League Is Rubbish, Pirlo Is So Sexy Lol, etc. etc. etc. Then forget it all in August and spend 10 months finding out who's managed to buy the league this year.
And if people do think England are the best...so what? Some people think Jason Manford is funny. Each to their own and all that.

England Are Pretty Dull
I have to say that I agree with Alex, Leeds. England are pretty dull to watch and really not great (Hodgson's fault as much as anything) but, to go a step further, are they even that likeable? We're captained by an angry Scouser who can't score a meaningful goal in an England shirt to save his life, yet is somehow about to break the record; our most dangerous player is pretty disliked by his own club and, well, just not that dangerous; our most influential player is Jack-the-mouthy-club-rep-from-Magaluf-Wilshere.
All in all, a sorry state of affairs. Although I look forward to forgetting all of this, getting really excited pre-Euro 2016 and suffering the same disappointment when we thoroughly underwhelm. Or Kane to do what Rooney did in 2004 (just without the cruel injury), and make me remember why I love England.
Alex, THFC (we would've won 2004 if Rooney didn't get injured. What happened to that player?
