Netherlands coach Danny Blind has played down reports that Manchester United forward Memphis Depay was involved in a training ground spat with former Old Trafford favourite Robin van Persie.

According to reports, the pair clashed ahead of Saturday's victory over Kazakhstan but Blind was quick to pour cold water on the incident.

Blind, father of current United player Daley, says the bust-up had no role in his decision to leave Van Persie out of his starting XI against Kazakhstan.Blind said: "There are sometimes situations in training where players think different.
"Then you talk about it. That's what happened and then it's over."
Van Persie, who has netted 49 goals in 100 games for his country, left United to join Fenerbahce in July, just a month after Memphis arrived at Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven.
